Kalyn McCall
Independent Educational Consultant & Writing Tutor Born and raised in Southern California, Kalyn loves learning for the sake of learning and, as an educator, loves working with students to help them find the same joy. As an undergraduate at Stanford University, Kalyn studied and earned degrees in African and African American Studies, History, and a Master’s in Sociology. While there, she also took the time to study abroad at the University of Cape Town (South Africa) and across the country at Spelman College, a Historically Black College/University (HBCU) in Atlanta, Georgia. Given that both of her parents were the first in their families to receive a college education, Kalyn appreciates and treasures every opportunity to explore. After graduating in 2014, she transitioned to Harvard University to attain her Master’s and Ph.D. in History and earned her College Counseling Certificate from UCLA. For her, knowledge is a lifelong pursuit, fueling her passion for helping others have the same chance. Kalyn enjoys the mentorship process and seeing students succeed. With patience, she works with every student to assess their strengths, identify their goals, tell their stories, and reach their potential. While the past is written, the future is yet to be determined, making it necessary to work hard to provide access to resources and opportunities. [email protected] (714) 321-7790 100% Virtual |
“When we started, my family had no idea how the American school system worked, where my daughter wanted to go, and what she wanted to study. Starting only a month before applications were due, we weren’t sure she would have enough time to apply and have options. Thanks for all your hard work , Kalyn, in helping her narrow her interests and find schools that fit her. I think we made a good decision that has given her the room she needs to explore and continue to discover what she wants to do and be. We couldn’t have gotten through this process without you and are very happy with the results.”

When Kalyn started helping me, I wasn't great at academic writing, but with her help, my vocabulary, technical skills and confidence improved. I have been getting all A's in college because of her help, and it has helped me become a better writer, which is essential because I am starting my master's degree classes. Kalyn is very knowledgeable, personal, friendly, and funny, and you won’t find a better person to help you on your journey to achieving your dreams and education.
